Western United is ready to welcome Melbourne Victory to the west, when they cross the bridge into Green and Black territory for the opening round of the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season.
Dubbed the ‘Battle of the Bridge’, the two sides will meet on Saturday November 20 in Geelong, and tickets are now on sale for Western United’s season opener.
The Green and Black army is set for a reunion at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, with the opening battle for the season promising to have even more fireworks than previous clashes.
This will be John Aloisi’s first competitive match in charge of the team has he comes up against a new-look Victory outfit with head coach Tony Popovic also taking to the touchline for the first time.
A rebirth of both clubs could see debuts for a host of Western United’s new signings, including internationals Leo Lacroix, Aleksandar Prijovic and Rene Krhin and Australian stars Neil Kilkenny, Ben Garuccio, Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Dylan Wenzel Halls.
Fans have rejoiced at the return to Geelong for the first time since January, the venue serving the Club well in the past with a current unbeaten run of five matches and counting.
Last season’s meetings were an even split, with a draw in the first meeting before a win to each side in the resulting two fixtures.
It was a heavy defeat for Western United the last time the two sides faced each other, so there is revenge to be had.

Platinum seating will be in the Brownlow Stand, situated right on the halfway line of the pitch for the best view of all the action.
Further to the left of the Brownlow Stand will be Premium ticketing, as well as the neighbouring Premiership Stand, with General Admission seating at the ends of both those stands.
United’s active support will bring the noise from the corner of the Premiership Stand, with a first opportunity to chant and get behind the team since May.
Live sport returns to Melbourne to kick off the summer, with a particularly special return for the region of Geelong with its first sporting event in months, and Western United needs its fans in full voice to spur the team on.
As it stands, the Round 1 clash will take place with 25% capacity fulfilled in the stadium. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required to enter the arena, and each ticketholder must remain within their designated zone for the entirety of the match.
