Western United has completed the signing of talented young Australian striker Noah Botic on a two-year deal until the end of the 2022/23 A-League season.

Botic returns to Australia after two successful years with German Bundesliga club, Hoffenheim.

The 19-year-old said he was motivated to play under head coach John Aloisi and sees Western United as a perfect next step in his career.

“I had an amazing experience in Germany and I am now looking forward to playing in the A-League,” Botic said.

“To be able to continue my footballing career under a legend like John Aloisi was a big drawcard for my move, and to learn from the likes of Diamanti and Sanchez also motivates me.

“I’m ready to work hard this pre-season and hope to make a strong impression.”

Western United coach John Aloisi said he was looking forward to watching Botic continue to develop.

“Noah has a strong presence on the park being six-feet tall,” Aloisi said.

“He is capable of scoring goals in any number of ways, but it is his intelligence and predatory instincts around the six-yard box that make him incredibly difficult to defend.

“I’m looking forward to watching Noah continue to develop here at Western United.”

Botic rose to prominence in Australian football after an outstanding tournament at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil in 2019.

After scoring in each of the first two group stage matches, a brace in the final game against Nigeria booked the Joeys a place in the knockout stages of the tournament for the first time since 1999.
