Western United is proud to be in partnership with Results First Aid Training – a Truganina-based company right in the club’s heartland.
The 12-month deal will see the company become the club’s first aid supplier, delivering training to all staff from players and coaches to the administration staff.
Ms Jude Barnes, CEO of Results First Aid Training, said she is delighted to be partnering with Western United as the club continues to grow in western Victoria.
“We love what the club is doing for the local community and we fully support their vision for a vibrant and successful sporting club which is so vitally needed in the western suburbs,” she said.
“We love sport because it contributes so much to keeping people fit and healthy, but it does involve injuries.
“That’s why it’s so important for Western United to have people at all levels of the club trained in first aid to be able to support medical staff on the field and be ready to assist off the field as well.”
The sporting community was issued a stark reminder of the importance of first aid training during the European Championships in June, when Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.
Ms Barnes said that first aid training is a “life-saver” and was proven in this situation, as many of Eriksen’s teammates reacted quickly before medical staff performed CPR to revive him.
Western United General Manager Commercial Chris Speldewinde impressed the importance of the partnership.
“We are very happy to be partnering with Results First Aid,” Speldewinde said.
“We know how important first aid is in everyone’s life, but especially in elite, grassroots & community sport where Western United play an important role.
“Our head office staff participated in training at Results First Aid offices in Truganina recently, which reinforced the synergy of our partnership.
“We look forward to continuing to raise awareness of the importance of first aid training through every interaction we make as a club this season.”
Around 100 people connected to Western United will receive the first aid training over the next 12 months, which is to be held at Results First Aid Training’s specialised facility as well as in the football club’s own facility.
