New signing Dario Jertec has arrived at Western United’s impressive Caroline Springs training base and the Croatian midfielder declared he’s ready to rock and roll in the green and black.
Jertec says his match fitness is good.
“I’m fit. I played in five, six games in Croatia. Because their championship has started,” he told www.wufc.com.au
“I feel good and physically I’m ready to play in the championship [A-League] and I don’t see a reason why I won’t play good with team and me.
“I’m very happy to be here.
“I came here because I spoke with the coach [Mark Rudan] and he told me about his target and I think this will be a good experience for me and my future.”
The 34-year-old has become the club’s fourth international signing, joining Italian Alessandro Diamanti, Greece’s Panagiotis Kone, and Poland’s Filip Kurto.
Jertec – an eight-time Croatian U-21 international – has spent the majority of his career in his native country, including for league giants Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split, and most recently for Varaždin.
He has also played in Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, and Kuwait.
The new signing added: “I think I made a good decision coming here.”
And his message to the Western United fans was simple: “Be with us. We want your support. We’ll do our best to make a good result.”
