Western United defender Tomoki Imai has been handed a two-match suspension after receiving a straight red card in United’s defeat to Adelaide United on Friday night.
The Japanese was sent off in second-half stoppage time after an altercation with Adelaide United defender Ryan Kitto.
Football Australia’s independent Match Review Panel (MRP) determined Imai committed the offence of “Violent Conduct”.
The minimum sanction for this offence is two matches, meaning Imai has been served with the minimum penalty.
As a result, Imai will miss United’s next three games, all at home against Macarthur FC, Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United.
