Kat Smith’s women’s side will take centre stage at 7:45pm after a superb win on the road against Central Coast Mariners last time out.
That match-up against the Roar will be a huge encounter with Brisbane sitting in second place on the table and coming off a big win against Newcastle Jets.
Closing out 2024, this game will pit Matildas stars up against each other as Western’s Chloe Logarzo and Chloe Lincoln lock horns with Brisbane aces Tameka Yallop and Sharn Freier.
Logarzo continues to lead Western United from the front with three goals in five appearances so far this season as captain, while Lincoln has shone in the past month since joining the Club at the start of the season, helping guide the Green and Black to two wins in her four appearances.
The last time the two sides met saw all the stars on show as Logarzo scored a double and Freier had two assists in a thrilling game that ended in a 3-2 win for the Green and Black.
It kicks off at 4pm when the gates open ahead of the men’s match beginning at 5pm and John Aloisi’s men looking to ride the wave of an incredible past two weeks.
As if it couldn’t get better than the thrilling 4-3 win over Sydney FC, the Green and Black doubled down and dominated league leaders Auckland FC on Saturday, playing them off their own pitch in a 4-0 triumph.
United’s young guns have been on fire with Noah Botic scoring in consecutive games and Western United Academy graduates Abel Walatee, Rhys Bozinovski and Matthew Grimaldi all scoring in the past two weeks.
John Aloisi’s side is currently the only team in the competition on a two-match winning streak and has the joint second-best overall record in the league across the last five rounds, playing some exhilarating football in the process.
There’s been great drama in the recent meetings between United and Brisbane with late goals, comebacks, goals and red cards in abundance, so this one is set to be another cracker.
The scene is set and some of the biggest and best footballing talents in the A-Leagues are ready to explode to life at Ironbark Fields.
