Western United’s wingback Josh Risdon was full of praise for his teammates after the Socceroo’s three assists helped the Green and Black to a 5-1 against Adelaide at Coopers Stadium on Saturday.
The record for assists in one A-League game is four.
“I had no idea [of the assists record],” Risdon told Fox Sports’ Robbie Cornthwaite after the game.
“But obviously it was nice to get the assists and it’s a massive win for us. And it was just nice to contribute.”
The win lifting the Green and Black back into the six after goals to Berisha (2), Diamanti, Burgess, his fourth in two weeks, and Pain were registered after an entertaining, free-flowing meeting.
United also handed a debut to keeper Ryan Scott, who came off the bench inside the first 10 minutes following a nasty fall by number one Filip Kurto.
Medical staff taking off the Polish shot-stopper after a long check, with back-up Ryan Scott coming on and displaying confidence and quality in his debut.
It mirrored Western’s stellar showing in the City of Churches.
“Structurally we were very good. We worked very hard and won the ball and with the quality up top that we have with Dia [Diamanti] and Bes [Berisha] we know if we can find them we can create the chances.
“And today we finished them [the chances] off, which has probably let us down over a couple of games this season.
“But today was a great performance.”
