Today Football Federation Australia (FFA), together with Western United FC and the 10 other Hyundai A-League clubs, announced the intention to resume the 2019/20 season as soon as possible.

Resumption will be guided by the medical and safety advice of the Federal and State Governments and we, and FFA, will work with our broadcast partners to provide a further update on this in due course.

COVID-19 has presented all of us with challenges beyond anything we could imagine, for us as individuals, as families, and together as Western United FC. It surely is a first season that we will never forget.

We are in this together.

I can’t express enough the gratitude the club has for its partners and members. The partners that have boldly supported us as we build together towards a strong future. The members who have supported the Green & Black since the beginning, who’ve travelled in wind, rain and sun to Geelong, Ballarat, Footscray and across the country.

We are missing football as much as you are. For now, I hope we are keeping you engaged and entertained through our social media channels and surprise activities such as the Easter Football Deliveries.

The football department is working with the squad to maintain strong levels of health and fitness so that when we do resume, we will be ready. Behind the scenes, my administration team are working hard on continuing to build this Club – we will come out of this stronger and better than before.

On behalf of everyone at Western United, stay safe and stay United.

Chris Pehlivanis
CEO, Western United FC
