Western United ready to attack Perth Glory

Western United Head Coach Mark Rudan says his side will look to attack Perth Glory from the start in Wednesday night’s clash at Bankwest Stadium.

United, who are coming off a 5-3 win against Western Sydney Wanderers last week, have shown their attacking prowess in recent weeks, thanks to the likes of Besart Berisha, Max Burgess and captain Alessandro Diamanti.

The number of goals scored has pleased Rudan, and he has prepared United to play in that same attacking fashion against the Glory.

“We’ve won four out of five. In three of those games we’ve scored five goals as well which tells you what kind of team we are,” Rudan told reporters during Tuesday’s press conference.

“We’re going to attack, we’re going to press them, we’re going to go all out. That’s how we want to play.

“If we end up conceding a goal, we’ll make sure we score more.”

A win could see the Green and Black enter the top six, depending on the result between Melbourne City and Adelaide United on Tuesday night.

But Rudan says that despite the belief within the squad to contend for silverware, the focus is only on tomorrow night’s fixture against the Glory.

“We’re just concentrating on Perth. We’re not even in the six so there’s no point in talking about it.

“Is there belief in the squad? Absolutely. We believe we can beat anybody in this competition.

“We believe we’re playing some of the best football in the competition as well.”

Western United face Perth Glory at Bankwest Stadium on Wednesday, August 12 at 5:35pm.
