Form Guide
Central Coast Stadium: DWLWL
Western United: LLLLL
Western United put in a much-improved performance on Monday night against Macarthur FC, dominating the second half.
However, they ultimately walked away empty-handed, going down 2-1 at Leichhardt Oval.
The Mariners haven’t replicated their form from the first half of the season – which saw them sit on the top of the table for X weeks but remain one of the top teams of the competition.
Despite a 2-0 loss to rivals Newcastle Jets midweek, the Mariners are confirmed to play finals football for the first time since 2014.
Previous meetings
Central Coast won their first meeting with United earlier this season, coming from 2-1 down to secure a 3-2 win at home.
Alou Kuol scored twice off the bench for the Mariners, which no doubt would have caught the eye of his future employers VfB Stuttgart.
United took all three points when the two sides met again in Launceston, Tasmania in April.
A Connor Pain strike in the 5th minute was enough to see out a 1-0 win against the then league-leaders Mariners.
