Aimee Medwin will show her blistering pace and athleticism once again at Ironbark Fields after re-signing with Western United for the 2024/25 Liberty A-League Women season.
The electric left-footer made her return from ACL injury last season and picked up right where she’d left off the year prior, making eight appearances and showing her quality again.
Now approaching a full season at Western United for the first time, the 25-year-old will have eyes on making another big impact at Ironbark Fields.
“I can’t wait to be out there for a full season with the girls and be able to compete for a spot in the team,” she said.
“Last season was amazing for me coming back from my ACL and getting to be involved, but going into a full season with the Club is going to be super special for me. Hopefully I can contribute to some amazing moments this season for the team, the Club and the fans.”
Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato is eager to see Medwin make the next leap in her career with consistent opportunities this season.
“Aimee did magnificently well to come back from her ACL rupture in such positive shape, and that only fills us with great confidence for the upcoming season,” he said.
“Even through challenging times in her career, Aimee has consistently upheld our Club values and become a favourite among her peers and fans alike.
“It is fantastic to see Aimee return for a full campaign with us and I am very much looking forward to seeing her take big strides forward at Ironbark Fields this season.”
Looking to build on her 17 appearances for Western United so far, Medwin will hope to remain a key player under Kat Smith having started each of the last six games in the 2023/24 campaign.
The Tasmanian is the sixth player to re-sign with Western United this week and will return to pre-season training with her teammates in a matter of weeks as the Green and Black works towards bringing success to Tarneit.
