Anthony Didulica selected in Joeys squad for ASEAN U-16 Boys’ Championship

Western United Academy starlet Anthony Didulica is off to Indonesia later this month after being selected in the Subway Joeys squad for the ASEAN U-16 Boys’ Championship.

Didulica follows in the footsteps of the likes of Luke Vickery, Campbell Dovison, Michael Vonja and Christian Dermentzoglou in earning a national team call-up from the Western United Academy.

An electric attacking midfielder with a knack for scoring goals, Didulica joined Western United in the back end of 2023 initially in the Under 18’s squad.

Such is his talent, Didulica has played only once in the Under 18’s while spending the vast majority of his time with the Green and Black so far in the Under 23’s.

The 16-year-old has scored eight goals in 16 matches with at Under-23 level this season as the team sits at the top of the table.

Western United Academy Director Anthony Frost said Didulica’s ability to excel in the Academy was evidence of the continued growth that the Club is achieving in the West.

“Anthony has fit our vision and purpose perfectly, being a player from the West who has joined our Academy and been able to take leaps forward in our environment,” he said.

“Still at such a young age, Anthony lives and breathes football and is always looking to take on information and get better with each training session and each game.

“We are extremely proud of Anthony and congratulate him and his family on this achievement. We are delighted with the work being done in our Academy space and look forward to other opportunities of this nature for our players in the future.”

Growing up in the West, Didulica played his junior football at North Geelong Warriors and St Albans Saints before joining Melbourne City’s academy.

The youngster crossed over to Western United last year and hasn’t looked back as he continues to shine and add elements to his game.
