Western United has learned its full fixture for the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season with Australian Professional League’s releasing the entire schedule.
The first six games of the season had already been announced to take the season into the new year, with United’s campaign set to begin on November 20 against Melbourne Victory.
John Aloisi will take his side interstate for the first time in Round 7 with a New Year’s Day clash against Western Sydney Wanderers at CommBank Stadium.
That is the first of four consecutive games against New South Wales opposition, with a home fixture against Sydney FC followed by back-to-back away trips to Macarthur and Newcastle Jets.
United’s first match against Wellington Phoenix is slated for Round 11, with the date to be confirmed pending the finalisation of the structure of the FFA Cup.
The Green and Black army will return to MARS Stadium in Ballarat on Saturday March 5 for a Round 17 clash against Newcastle, with a second game coming a month later in Round 21 against Central Coast Mariners.
After a successful venture to Tasmania last season, UTAS Stadium is once again a key stop on Western United’s journey this season.
The quick-fire trip across the Bass Strait will see two games played on April 16 and April 19, against Perth Glory and Macarthur respectively.
That will then lead United into the final two games of the season, both away from home against Adelaide United and Central Coast to close out the campaign, with the final match set for April 30.
APL has also brought in a new structure to the final’s series. The top two teams will still have the first week off, but semi-finals will become home and away ties, with a return of the aggregate finals match-ups from early years of the A-League.
Some dates, venues and kick-off times remain tentatively scheduled or are still to be confirmed, pending broadcast schedules and venue availability.
