Avaani Prakash will be ready to explode in the Liberty A-League Women with the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup star signing on with Western United for season 2024/25.

The 17-year-old has shone on the world stage with the Young Matildas in the past week, featuring in both of the Young Matildas’ matches so far.

Prakash has caught the eye with her slick technical ability and insatiable competitiveness at the World Cup following an outstanding debut campaign in the Liberty A-League.

The talented attacking midfielder racked up 14 appearances in her first professional season and etched her name into Western United history with the first home goal at Ironbark Fields.

With many more history-making moments on the horizon, Prakash is eager to achieve greatness with the Green and Black.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to return to Western United. My first professional season here was an incredible experience, and coming back feels like a natural progression in my career,” she said.

“Western United has been instrumental in my development. Together with the Club, I am enjoying success at the national level and I am now eager to take the next step at Ironbark Fields.

“It’s a chance to build on my experience and contribute even further to Western United’s success, together with the support of the great fans.”

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said the retention of another exemplary young talent was a significant milestone for the Club.

“We are immensely proud of everything Avaani has achieved in the last 12 months and we are delighted that she will continue her development at Ironbark Fields,” he said.

“Her experience at the World Cup will be invaluable and we are looking forward to seeing her take the next significant steps in the Liberty A-League.

Prakash and Western United teammates Sasha Grove, Chloe Lincoln and Kahli Johnson will join pre-season training at Ironbark Fields later this month after the completion of their World Cup campaign.
