Western United to play Melbourne Victory behind closed doors

Western United can confirm that Friday night’s clash with Melbourne Victory will go ahead at AAMI Park, however due to Victoria’s seven-day lockdown, fans will not be permitted to attend.

“This is not something new to Victorians, who have displayed a tremendous amount of courage and resilience over the past 12 or so months,” Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said.

“We’re disappointed fans won’t be able to attend Friday’s match against Melbourne Victory, but fan health and safety is the number one priority for the club right now.

“We encourage all our fans to tune in to the broadcast tomorrow night and cheer on the Green and Black from the couch.”

All fans who purchased a ticket will automatically receive a refund from Ticketek with details to be communicated directly to the ticket purchaser.

APL Commissioner Greg O’Rourke confirmed an announcement in regards to United’s home match against Macarthur FC on Monday night will be made in the next 48 hours.
