Ben Garuccio will continue leading Western United into its exciting future after putting pen to paper on a new two-year deal at Ironbark Fields.
Captaining the side in its first full season in Tarneit in 2024/25, Garuccio’s commitment means he will continue to spear-head the team into a new era with persistent ambition to succeed.
His four years in Green and Black so far have been full of personal and team achievements, firmly cementing himself as one of United’s most iconic players in the Club’s formative years.
In 2021/22, the No.17 won the Player of the Season and helped United lift the Isuzu UTE A-League Men Championship, also earning a selection in the PFA Team of the Season and the Isuzu UTE Goal of the Year award to cap off an incredible debut season in Green and Black.

Garuccio became an A-League Men All Star in 2024 before being named Western United captain and guiding his team to a record-breaking season with the most wins, points and goals scored in Club history in 2024/25.
In securing his future in the West, Garuccio is pledging to keep the good times going and called on the Western United faithful to stay on the journey.
“I’m so grateful to be able to continue my time with Western United. This Club has been such a special part of my journey and I’ve had the most memorable moments of my career since being here,” he said.
“I think now is probably the most exciting time to be a part of this Club and the future is looking brighter than ever.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who turns up to support us each week, it really is the most important thing in football.
“We’ll be putting in the work this pre-season to make sure we can go one better this year and reach that grand final. I’m looking forward to seeing Ironbark packed in Green and Black this season.”

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato hailed Garuccio’s re-signing as a key marker of intent and a symbol of strength for the future.
“Ben’s four years at the Club so far have been transformational. The role he has played off the pitch with his leadership and commitment has been of equal importance to his excellence on the pitch from day one,” he said.
“As we continue to aim towards an ambitious future, people of Ben’s calibre are integral to building on the foundations of our Club and we are incredibly proud to have him has a leader in our community.
“I’m sure I speak for all in our Western United family when I say we are delighted to extend his contract, and we eagerly look forward to him leading the team out at Ironbark Fields again this season.”
Garuccio and his teammates have hit the ground running in pre-season training with a first competitive hit-out just two weeks away, being the Australia Cup Round of 32 clash against Sydney FC.
