Western United has signed one of the Hyundai A-League’s greatest strikers, Besart Berisha. And the great striker wants you at United’s historic first home game on October 19 in Geelong.
“It’s really important as a player and as a club that you support us,” the A-League legend told www.wufc.com.au in his first interview after signing.
Ten months ago Western United was nothing more than an ambitious idea to bring the Hyundai A-League to the western suburbs of Melbourne and greater western regions of Victoria.
On Saturday October 19, Mark Rudan and his team will bring that idea to life, hosting the club’s first ever home match against last season’s Premiers, Perth Glory at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong.
“We need you. For us as a new club now in the league, every supporter counts,” Berisha added.
“We really need everyone. From the West, wherever you are!”
Berisha has begun training with his new teammates at the club’s Caroline Springs training centre.
And with the season kicking off next month, the legendary A-League striker believes together, the club can make history for the Green and Black fans.
“We’re a great team and we want to make everybody proud and happy, so please come and support us.”
