Western United’s Matchweek 14 fixture against Brisbane Roar has been postponed due to concerns with the Moreton Daily Stadium playing surface as a result of the torrential rain that South-East Queensland experienced over the past week.
APL Commissioner Greg O’Rourke said that the decision to postpone was made after all attempts to relocate the match were exhausted.
“We were advised yesterday that the playing surface at Moreton Daily Stadium had been severely damaged as a result of the recent torrential rain in the area,” said O’Rourke.
“Over the past 24 hours we worked with both clubs and other stakeholders to try and relocate the match, but unfortunately due to the tight time frames involved we were unable to secure a suitable venue at short notice.
“As a result, we have now made the decision, in the interest of the players, clubs, fans and other stakeholders, to postpone the match and will look to reschedule as soon as possible,” concluded O’Rourke.
