Chloe Logarzo storms to Western United ALW Player of the Season win

Chloe Logarzo A-League Women

Chloe Logarzo was awarded Western United’s highest honour at the Club’s Gala Night on Wednesday, collecting the 2023/24 A-League Women Player of the Season medal.

The Matildas star was at her very best throughout the season and built a strong lead at the top of the voting despite missing five games across the campaign.

Grace Maher finished second in her first season at Western United while Jaclyn Sawicki placed third, ensuring United’s co-captains and vice-captain led from the front. Adriana Taranto and Alana Cerne both enjoyed breakout seasons and finished in fourth and fifth respectively.

Not only was Logarzo voted as the Player of the Season by a panel of coaches and football department staff, but she was also recognised by the supporters as she collected the Fans’ Player of the Season on the night, as well.

A consistent performer in each game she played, Logarzo tallied nine goals and three assists for the Green and Black over the season, placing her second in the team in both those categories.

The No.6 took her game to a whole new level after the turn of the year with six goals and all three of her assists coming across eight games from January to March.

Her best performance was undoubtedly against Melbourne Victory to begin that run of production as she scored twice and set up Adriana Taranto in a remarkable 4-1 win.

Logarzo also hit a brace against Brisbane Roar, including a stoppage-time penalty to win the match, and finished with a goal and an assist in her final appearance of the season against Canberra United.

While Logarzo’s season was cruelly cut short due to injury, her impact had long been established over the course of the season and her leadership off the field meant she remained an integral part of Kat Smith’s squad.

Logarzo’s form earned her a recall to the Matildas squad and the PFA Player of the Month in February and a second-placed finish in the final standings for the Julie Dolan Medal, awarded to the best player in the Liberty A-League Women.

Now forever a part of Western United’s honour roll, Logarzo joins Hillary Beall on the Club’s list of A-League Women Player of the Season winners after one of the best seasons by any player to pull on the Green and Black jersey.
