Chloe Logarzo to lead Western United ALW charge

Chloe Logarzo Western United A-League Women captain

Chloe Logarzo will spearhead Western United in its charge towards success in the Ninja A-League Women after being announced as captain for the 2024/25 season.

The Matildas star has been a cornerstone of United’s women’s program since its inception in 2022 and will remain at the forefront as she guides the Green and Black into its thrilling future at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit.

United’s No.6 has repeatedly shown her quality in the Ninja A-League, but her leadership has been just as important in setting the foundations for Western United in the past two seasons.

This season, Logarzo will be supported by co vice-captains in Grace Maher and Alana Cerne. The pair played every single minute of last season together in defence and both featured in the A-Leagues All Stars Women side that took on Arsenal in May.

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said Logarzo, Maher and Cerne were the perfect role models to shape the ongoing future of women’s football at the Club.

“We are extremely proud to have such fantastic individuals at our football club that represent our values and ambition to unite and inspire the community,” he said.

“Since day one, Chloe has been a colossus in our program and her drive in shaping our identity will continue to see her influencing a long-lasting legacy of high standards and excellence. Having her as a leader of our players, our Club and our broader community is a blessing.

“In Grace and Alana, we have two fantastic young leaders who we are incredibly excited to see take the next step in their careers as they grow as people, leaders and footballers.

“Since joining the Club, Grace has been a tremendous leader and role model for her peers and will continue to lead both on and off the field.

“Alana’s progression as an individual and professional footballer has been rapid, developing through our pathway program to now playing a key role as a leader of our Club.

“On behalf of everyone at Western United, I congratulate Chloe, Grace and Alana on their appointments and look forward to the ongoing impact they will have on our community.”

Logarzo, Maher and Cerne are raring to go for season 2024/25 as Western United kicks off the new campaign on Friday 1 November at Ironbark Fields against Wellington Phoenix.
