Western United is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Filip Kurto has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The 29-year-old will now remain at United until at least the end of the 2020/21 A-League season.

Kurto joins Alessandro Diamanti, Steven Lustica, Luke Duzel, and fellow goalkeeper Ryan Scott to have recently extended their deals at the club.

“It’s great to have Filip re-sign. He has proven to be one of the top goalkeepers in the A-League,” Western United goalkeeper coach Frank Juric said.

“Filip is a total professional on and off the field and is well respected among his teammates and the coaching staff.”

After his first season in the A-League with Wellington Phoenix, where he was crowned goalkeeper of the year, Kurto made the switch to Victoria to line up for the Green and Black in their inaugural season.

The Polish shot-stopper has made 67 saves this season, ranking third overall in the A-League.

Kurto said: “I am really happy to be staying at Western United. I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue this amazing journey that we have only just begun. It’s a good club to be part of, I’m very happy.”

Kurto will line up for Western United this month when the 2019/20 A-League season resumes.
