Dylan Pierias and Lachie Wales are set to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, with the men’s football competition just one day away from kicking off.
Graham Arnold’s side has been preparing in Japan over a training camp and has played two friendlies in the lead-up to the tournament, with a win and a loss against New Zealand.
Both Pierias and Wales have featured heavily in the friendlies and will be eager to make an impression in the Games.
The Olyroos have a tough group, with Argentina their first opponents on Thursday July 22 before they play a Spain team littered with Euro 2020 participants on Sunday July 25.
The final group game takes place against Egypt on Wednesday July 28, by which point the Olyroos will hope to be qualified for the knockout stages.
All of the Olympics will be broadcast live on Channel 7, with the Olyroos’ first match being shown live on 7Mate, with exact channel details of the other games to come shortly.
One positive of the games taking place in Japan is the time difference is rather favourable for Victorians, with the first two fixtures on at 8:30pm while the Egypt clash kicks off at 9pm.
