Julia Sardo will continue building her legacy at Western United with the foundation player committing for the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Women season.

One of the key leaders in the group, Sardo had her most consistent season in the Green and Black with 20 appearances – including 17 starts – this term.

Continuing to represent the contingent of players that developed through the Club’s pathway with Calder United, Sardo has become an integral pillar in Western’s women’s program, laying the foundations for the culture and standards that have helped take the side to three straight finals appearances.

After re-committing at Ironbark Fields, Sardo said continuing for a fourth season was an easy decision while sharing a message to the fans.

“It means a lot to be returning to Western United for my fourth season. This Club and team hold a special place in my heart and I’m proud to wear the Green and Black again,” she said.

“I’m excited to be back at Ironbark Fields and I’m pumped for what’s ahead. Hopefully we’ll see even more fans getting behind us next season, your support means everything.”

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said Sardo’s position as a foundational piece of the squad was important to maintain.

“Julia has been one of the key drivers in our program since day one and it is integral to keep hold of people like her at our Club,” he said,

“Her consistency and commitment on the pitch is matched by her driven personality off the pitch, connecting with our community as we continue to aim high in the Ninja A-League.

“We look forward to Julia having another positive impact on our squad and our entire Club in the 2025/26 season.”

Sardo is the first player to commit to new terms for next season, joining the trio of Grace Maher, Sasha Grove and Alana Cortellino who will be entering the second year of their current contracts.
