The Festival Of Football is now on sale, giving Tasmanians the chance to be part of a week-long celebration of football.
Western United in partnership with Football Tasmania and the Tasmania Government, is set to celebrate the world game with Tasmania’s first-ever Festival Of Football.
Headlining the festival are two A-League matches, in which United will face league-leaders Central Coast Mariners on April 17 and Wellington Phoenix on April 22.
Tasmanians will get to see United’s stars live. International footballers Diamanti, Sánchez and Kurto will sizzle, A-League superstar striker Berisha will entertain and the young football stars of the future including Pierias, Duzel and Wales will all be there to get the two wins for Western United.
United defender Andrew Durante is excited for his first ever visit to Tasmania.
“I’ve never been to Tasmania and I don’t think many of the other players have either,” Durante said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing what Tasmania has to offer.
“I believe it’s a really nice stadium down there and hopefully everyone embraces it and gets behind us.”
As part of the celebration of football, there will be curtain-raisers prior to each of United’s matches.
Two games between NPL Tasmania teams will take place before United’s clash with Central Coast.
Western United’s partner club, Calder United will bring the girl power to Launceston in a match before the A-League game against Wellington, in which some of Victoria’s best female football talent will be on display.
Before and after the football will be community fun days full of activities such as open training sessions and inflatables.
The Sunday will be Family Day that has a VIP experience for Festival Of Football pass holders.
The day includes player signings and selfies, a BBQ, zorb balls and more.
