United enter the clash on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Melbourne Victory last weekend. Despite the result, head coach John Aloisi was positive about the team’s performance and will look to carry that good feeling into Friday night.

Perth picked up a point in their season opener with a 1-1 draw at home against Adelaide United. Glory sold out HBF Park for the debut of new star striker Daniel Sturridge, and the ex-Liverpool and Chelsea star will make his first trip to Melbourne with the hope of more on-pitch minutes.

Previous Meetings

One thing has been consistent in previous meetings between Western United and Perth Glory, and that has been goals.

There have been 16 goals in the four meetings so far, and United control the head-to-head record with two wins, a draw and a loss.

A remarkable 5-4 win for the Green and Black last season has been the highlight match between the two sides so far, while Perth also travelled to Geelong to mark the occasion of United’s first ever home game in 2019.

Glory took victory with a 3-0 scoreline in the last meeting, and United will be out to turn it around and get on the board for season 2021/22.

Team News

With no new major issues coming out of the Victory game, Aloisi will have a largely similar squad available to him.

Rene Krhin, Rhys Bozinovski and Sebastian Pasquali will all be out of the match and likely some weeks after as well.

The likes of Aleksandar Prijovic and Dylan Pierias will be hoping to leave an impression in training and force themselves into the starting XI after coming off the bench against Victory.
