Western United have moved one step closer to playing A-League finals in their inaugural season after defeating Perth Glory 2-0 on Wednesday night.
A bizzare Besart Berisha goal put United in the lead after 27 minutes at Bankwest Stadium. The ball richocheted off Berisha’s chest into the back of the net following a Max Burgess set piece.
United doubled their lead shortly after half-time, after Connor Pain was fouled inside the penalty area Berisha cooly coverted from the spot – his 18th goal of the season – to give United a two-goal cushion.
It was a calmer ending than United’s 5-3 thriller against the Wanderers last week, as the Green and Black held on for the win and clean sheet.
United jump into sixth on the A-League table with two games to follow against Sydney FC and Melbourne City.
