Western United is pleased to announce it has reached another historic milestone, signing up 6,000 members so far for the 2020/21 A-League season.

United reached the milestone this week, officially surpassing last season’s count of 5,702.

From Melbourne’s western suburbs, to Geelong and Ballarat, and even overseas in countries such as Monaco and USA, United’s members come from different corners of Victoria’s west and the world.

At 89 years of age, Mary Whitcher is the Club’s oldest member.

Whitcher loves the world game and is excited to be a fan of the Green and Black.

“When I first came to Australia there was no soccer to be played. I’m really glad that soccer’s taken off here and I’m thrilled to be part of the club,” Whitcher said.

The Club’s youngest member, Matias Gonzalez became the latest United fan after being born just over a month ago.

Matias’ father, Kenny Gonzalez has always been a westie, and is keen to bring Matias to all Western United home games in the future.

“I was born and bred in the western suburbs, and as soon as the kids are both a bit older, they’ll be coming to every game and I can see them being Western United through and through,” Gonzalez said.
