Michael Ruhs will depart Western United at the expiration of his contract, pursuing a new opportunity after two-and-a-half years in Green and Black.
The striker was a deadline day signing in February 2023 and went on to register 51 Isuzu UTE A-League Men appearances for the Club.
Ruhs scored eight goals in that time, most notably bagging a brace in the first-ever men’s match at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit, contributing to a stunning 4-2 win.

His energy and work rate up front made him a fan favourite, as did his competitive edge which he repeatedly used to fire up the crowd.
After confirming his departure from the West, Ruhs spoke of the special environment he has felt at the Club.
“This Club has been more than just a team to me – it’s been a home. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms, and for that I will always be grateful,” he said.
“Thank you for believing in me, challenging me and helping me grow. You’ve made me a better player and a better person.
“Western United will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato thanked Ruhs for his contribution to the Club.
“Michael has been a valued member of our Western United family and I would like to thank him for his contributions during his time,” he said.
“His positivity and energy have been infectious throughout the group and a key part of our culture as a team.
“We wish Michael every success in his future endeavours and look forward to seeing his career continue.”
With pre-season training set to commence next week, Western United will be looking forward to beginning preparations for the new season with an Australia Cup Round of 32 clash right around the corner.
