The Western United journey to now has been a tale for the ages with twists and turns at every corner – nail-biting comeback wins, midnight escapes across state borders and two seasons enduring a global pandemic.
Seldom does an opportunity come around to be a part of something big right from the very beginning. One day in the future, we can all say ‘we were there’ when we reminisce about the early days. When the foundations were built for something truly special.
This sentiment is captured in the quirky script for our 2021 launch campaign, Ms President’s Speech – Future is Now, which launched yesterday across the club’s social media platforms, just two weeks out from the start of the 2021/22 A-League Men season.
In a fun, tongue-in-cheek manner, this is a story that represents the values of the club and the people within it. Those that bravely chose to be there from the beginning – those that chose to believe before others could even see it.
It’s for the dreamers, the free-spirited, gritty and tough people from the west who have turned up and believed in our dream since the start.
Our future ‘Ms President’ represents staff, volunteers, partners, members, fans and footballers who accepted the hardships and the long the road ahead, but jumped on board the green and black anyway and didn’t look back.
With a simple ‘Go West’, they were united at the very beginning of our history.
