In their second match of the A-League season, Western United went down 2-1 to Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
City had the better of the opening 15 minutes, pinning United in their defensive third.
The Green and Black found their groove quickly however and soon found themselves ahead.
On his starting debut, Ivan Vujica scored his first-ever A-League goal to put United in the lead after 22 minutes.
Víctor Sánchez put in a perfectly weighted cross to the back post, where Vujica leapt above the City defence to make it 1-0.
United was in front for just eight minutes, as Craig Noone fired home an equaliser for City.
Noone cut inside on his non-preferred right foot before curling the ball into the bottom corner.
The second half saw a number of chances for both sides.
Iker Guarrotxena went closest for United with a sweetly timed volley, but the Spaniard was unable to keep his effort down.
Filip Kurto stood strong between the sticks for United, keeping out City with a number of quality saves.
It was in the 84th minute when City took the lead through Jamie Maclaren.
The ball was squared to Maclaren who tapped in his first goal of the season.
United walked away empty-handed, and have picked up one point in its first two games of the season.
They’ll next face Perth Glory on Saturday, 23 January at GMHBA Stadium.
