Rhys Bozinovski is primed for the next step in his professional career after signing a new contract at Western United until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The 20-year-old has committed to fresh terms and will look to emerge as a star midfielder in John Aloisi’s side on the back of a superb camp with the Olyroos where he scored a goal and provided assist in two games.
To date, Bozinovski has amassed 25 Western United appearances since debuting in 2022 as the third youngest men’s player in the Club’s history.
The energetic midfielder has always caught the eye with his technical ability and distribution, allowing him to excel in the face of pressure in the middle of the pitch and set the team forward in attack.
Now with No.23 on his back, Bozinovski is set to launch his career even further and said Western United was the perfect place for him to do so.
“I’m extremely pleased to re-sign with the Club for a few more years. It feels like home at Western, so it was a no brainer,” he said.
“It’s been a long journey starting in the youth team and it’s been a privilege to break into the first team and also get many national team call-ups as well.
“This season I feel more established and ready to go, and I feel very excited to play in front of all the fans at Ironbark Fields. It’s been a good pre-season and I can’t wait to give everything for the Club.”
Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato hailed Bozinovski’s early development and is eager to see more from the young midfielder.
“Rhys has been a credit to himself and our football club ever since coming into our environment and I am delighted that he has extended his stay for a further two seasons,” he said.
“In the three years he has been at our Club, we have watched Rhys represent Australia, make his professional debut and go on to become an important part of our current squad.
“The future is certainly bright for Rhys and we are incredibly enthusiastic about his potential. I am looking forward to seeing him continue to push himself and become a key leader in our community, both on and off the pitch.”
Bozinovski will have his sights set on his first appearance at Ironbark Fields when the Isuzu UTE A-League Men season kicks off in October.
The youngster will help lead a thrilling team of dynamic young talents with the first home fixture in Tarneit locked in for Sunday 27 October against Western Sydney Wanderers.
