Today, Western United FC welcomed exciting new player Luke Duzel to the family ahead of the new Hyundai A-League season.
Luke’s father Ivan was a well-respected NSL player and according to Luke, is the inspiration for his own burgeoning career.
The 17-year-old has joined Western United as a scholarship player.
Duzel signs from Melbourne City.
And the attacking midfielder is absolutely delighted to play for a club that represents the West.
It’s an area he grew up in and is proud to represent.
“It’s amazing – before I was traveling a long way to get to training [at Melbourne City] now when I train, it’s literally down the road,” he told www.wufc.com.au.
“I’m stoked, having a team out here and playing for them.
“The training centre is incredible and what the club is doing in the West is really going to catch people’s attention.”
The technically gifted Duzel plays as an eight or a “10” and has been part of the Joeys set up with Trevor Morgan.
He added: “Dad played in the 80s and is my role model.
“I’m really excited to see the fans and I hope they all buy memberships and this shirt, which looks great.”
