The occasion will mark United’s first ever match in the A-League Women competition, with no better way to get it started than a mouthwatering derby clash against rivals Victory.

It will also be a major moment for the Club with this match set to be played right in the heart of the West, just a stones throw away from where the Regional Training Facility in Wyndham is gathering momentum.

Bringing together the fans in the West, Western United will have plenty of fun and games for the whole family in a pre-match fan zone to build the atmosphere for the match.

On the pitch, United fans can get a glimpse of the star firepower in the squad with American striker Jessica McDonald, Matildas star Chloe Logarzo and Philippines international Jaclyn Sawicki all aiming to make their debuts in Green and Black come Round 1.

Head Coach Mark Torcaso has led his players through the opening two weeks of pre-season, and this Round 1 fixture will give his squad an immediate test against the two-time reigning A-League Women Champions.

United midfielder Emma Robers and attacker Harriet Withers were both part of the Victory team that claimed last year’s Grand Final while McDonald, Francesca Iermano and twin sisters Adriana and Melissa Taranto have all previously represented United’s rivals.
