Western United will now face Melbourne City on Saturday March 12 at AAMI Park, with kick-off for the top of the table clash earmarked for 5:05pm.
Melbourne City were due to play Melbourne Victory this weekend, but that fixture has been postponed due to Victory’s travel and quarantine requirements for their midweek trip to Japan.
Western United will fill the void by playing Melbourne City this weekend in place of the away trip to Sydney FC, which will now take place at a later date.
Tickets already purchased for the original date will be honoured on March 12, and any ticket holders that can’t make the new date will receive communications from Ticketek via email on how to refund.
As the table currently stands, Western United is sitting on top of the A-League Men table, three points clear of Melbourne City while also holding a game in hand over Patrick Kisnorbo’s side.
Western United has enjoyed a fabulous record against Melbourne City of late, winning each of the last three meetings including two 1-0 wins earlier on this season.
The last of those wins kick-started a club-record unbeaten streak for United which currently stands at eight games, of which six have been wins, including each of the last four.
That run of form has resulted in United’s ascension up the A-League Men table and has John Aloisi’s side in a strong position heading into the back half of the season. Â
This match is set to be the biggest of the year, and now is the time to jump on board the Green and Black and support the Club ahead of this huge match.
Tickets are on sale and ready to go.
Be loud, be proud and fill AAMI Park in Green and Black to push the team onto a big victory.
