Trials open for Western United 2024 Junior Academy teams

After an immensely successful inaugural year, Western United’s Junior Academy is eager to go from strength to strength and is open for trials for the 2024 season.

Set to take place in October, the trials will give talented male footballers from Under 14’s to Under 18’s age groups the chance to impress and become part of the Green and Black family.

Western United’s Academy continues to grow just two years on from the program’s beginning in NPL 3 Victoria in 2021.

Since then, the Senior Academy sides have been promoted and played in finals and in 2023, the Academy was extended as the next generation of Western United stars continues to grow.

Under 14’s, 15’s, 16’s and 18’s teams joined the Western United family this year with each squad developing superbly across the year.

After top performances in the pre-qualification phase of the season, all four teams were placed in JBNPL 1 and have continued to grow and improve throughout the main portion of the season.

As well as the brand new Junior Academy set-up, Western United also introduced the WUFC Development Centre in 2023 to continue to uncover the next greatest talents in the West.

With a focus on local talent, the WUFC Development Centre has begun identifying standout players that could be earmarked for future opportunities in the Academy proper.

That will lead perfectly into the trial phase for the 2024 season with Western United preparing to bolster its Junior Academy squads again ahead of their second seasons.

Parents or guardians must fill out the expression of interest form for their child before the closing date of Wednesday 27 September.

Following the submission of the forms, successful applicants will be invited to participate in the trials before final selections are made ahead of a first block of training before the new year.
