Western United has re-signed young talent Dylan Pierias for the next two years.
Born and bred in the west, the 21-year-old has extended his deal which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022/23 A-League season.
“It’s been great starting at a new club, especially in my area. I’ve loved every second of it. It was something different and something I’d never experienced,” Pierias said.
“Being a bit younger, sometimes you have to wait for your opportunity. Obviously trying to play every game is quite tough, but lucky the boss and the coaching staff trust me and have put me in and been starting me in a lot of games.
“When the club offered me an extension it was a no-brainer for me to sign. I love this club, it’s where I’m from, my area and I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
“I’m really excited just to have another two years here and try my best for the club, and hopefully try and win something.
“This is my home club, so it means the world to me. When I go out there and play, I put my full 100 per cent effort in.”
Pierias has impressed in his second season at United, scoring six goals in 17 appearances.
He’s shown his versatility this year, playing in several different positions including wing-back and forward.
“We’re pleased that Dylan has re-signed with our football club,” Western United Head Coach Mark Rudan said.
“He’s developed hugely in our environment over the last two years, and more importantly there’s a lot more to come. Dylan is a boy from the west, one of our own and it’s a great story for our club.
“We look forward to continuing to work with Dylan to ensure he fulfills his absolute potential,” Rudan concluded.
Western United’s next home game will be on Saturday, May 15 against Sydney FC at a venue to be confirmed this week.
