Western United ALW Squad: Round 15 vs Newcastle Jets

Mark Torcaso has named his extended 18-player squad for Western United’s Liberty A-League Women Round 15 trip to face Newcastle Jets.

The Western United boss will unfortunately be without Aimee Medwin for this clash after it was confirmed that the player has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

Medwin was substituted early on in Monday’s friendly against the Young Matildas, with scans later revealing the extent of the injury.

Torcaso will still have plenty of options to call upon in defence with the likes of Julia Sardo and Natasha Dakic ready to stand up when called upon.

Jaclyn Sawicki and Tyla Jay Vlajnic are both part of the extended squad and will hope to prove themselves fit to play as much as possible having both returned from respective international duties.

Fresh from signing a one-year contract extension at United, Hannah Keane is involved again and will look to pick up where she left off prior to the FIFA international window.

United’s No.9 leads the golden boot race on 10 goals and will hope to continue her momentum through the next five matches to ensure she finishes at the top of the tree.

Torcaso’s side will be eager to put in a better performance than the one from the reverse fixture against Newcastle and maintain their grip of top spot in the league.
