Western United A-League Women Squad: Round 19 vs Canberra United

Kahli Johnson Western United

Mark Torcaso has received a significant boost to his squad ahead of Western United’s Liberty A-League Women Round 19 clash against Canberra United.

The Green and Black will welcome Stacey Papadopoulos and Kahli Johnson back into the squad for the crucial clash at City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field.

Johnson missed the last two matches while on international duty with the Young Matildas and will look to pick up where she left off in the Liberty A-League, scoring twice against Newcastle Jets in her last match.

For Papadopoulos, the road back to the pitch has been slightly longer, just over two months since she suffered a knee injury in the win over Brisbane Roar in Hobart.

United’ No.2 has been absent for seven matches since then but has returned to training and is available for selection once again, providing a welcome addition to Torcaso’s options in defence.

Torcaso has named a 19-player list with Francesca Iermano also coming into the extended squad and eying a spot on matchday.

Aimee Medwin recently underwent successful surgery on her ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and is beginning the next stage of her rehabilitation, while Harriet Withers has been placed on the long-term injury list as she continues her recovery from an ankle operation.
