Western United A-Leagues fixture update for January

Tyla Jay Vlajnic Western United

Western United can confirm an update to two of its upcoming fixtured matches across the Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Liberty A-League Women.

Over a number of weeks, Western United has worked with Australian Professional Leagues to seek a venue for the Isuzu UTE A-League Round 13 fixture against Adelaide United.

After several venues were turned down due to lack of availability – including AAMI Park, GMHBA Stadium, Mars Stadium, Morshead Park and Ikon Park – Western United was granted permission to postpone the fixture until a later date.

Western United fans will now have an extra match to look forward to at the Regional Football Facility in Tarneit, with the postponement allowing this fixture to be held at the Club’s new venue upon its completion.

Western United is increasingly enthusiastic about moving into its new home in the coming months and is eager to take as many opportunities as possible to stage home fixtures at the venue.

Further enforced by the lack of available venues for this fixture, Western United is looking forward to playing out of only the second rectangular stadium in Victoria that is fit to host Isuzu UTE A-League matches.

What was set to be a double weekend of action against Adelaide United will now become a single Liberty A-League fixture against the Reds on Sunday 21 January.

Western United will once again host elite women’s football in the west of Melbourne with City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field remaining the team’s home venue for this fixture. Kick-off is set for 5pm AEDT.

The Club continues to receive strong support from the football fans in the West as matches at City Vista are consistently filled out with a strong atmosphere from the Green and Black faithful.

Having only played Adelaide United away from home last season, this will mark a first for many Western United fans in being able to watch this particular match-up live in person.

Western United has lost just twice at City Vista since entering the competition at the beginning of last season and will be out to continue that record, and indeed its perfect record against Adelaide with wins in both of the previous meetings.

Tickets will go on sale for that match shortly as the Green and Black army gears up to get behind Kat Smith’s side once again.
