Western United ALW Team News: Round 2 vs Melbourne Victory

Chloe Logarzo Western United

Western United is back at home in the Liberty A-League Women and Mark Torcaso is set to welcome Chloe Logarzo back into the fold for a huge Round 2 clash against Melbourne Victory.

The Matildas star is in the extended squad and is in line for her first appearance in Green and Black since Round 8 of last season against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Named Western United co-captain alongside Jaclyn Sawicki, Logarzo has worked tirelessly through the off-season and in pre-season to reach full fitness and be ready to return to the pitch.

After six appearances for United last season, the No.6 is back and ready for a full season in midfield to send a reminder to the world of her quality.

Logarzo’s inclusion ensures an unchanged 18-player squad for the clash with Lucy Richards hoping to put herself in the frame to feature on matchday and make her professional debut.

The remaining 16 players in the extended squad all made the trip to Perth last weekend and will be out to make amends for the 2-0 defeat against Glory in the season opener.

A number of them will recall making their Western United debuts on 19 November last year, marking the Club’s inaugural match in the Liberty A-League and its first win with a 1-0 triumph over Victory.

Adriana and Melissa Taranto will also hold onto memories of their own time at Victory in the W-League era, while fellow former Victory player Grace Maher will look to keep going from strength to strength after she played her first Western United game last week.

Alyssa Dall’Oste made the first start of her professional career against Perth and will hope to go again this weekend, while the likes of Keiwa Hieda, Kiara De Domizio and Julia Sardo will be eager to break into the starting line-up.

Torcaso will once again have a strong squad to choose from on matchday as he hopes his side can pick up the first points of the new campaign.
