Western United amplifying Victoria’s superheroes with Good Friday Appeal

Western United Good Friday Appeal Superhero Round

Western United will champion a new partnership with the Good Friday Appeal (GFA) at a special Superhero Round in April.

Joining forces with one of the most successful and largely recognisable charities in Victoria, Western United will look to do its part next month.

United’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men fixture against Perth Glory on Saturday 5 April and the Ninja A-League Women match against Adelaide United the following week will be dedicated to supporting the GFA.

Volunteer ‘tin rattlers’ will be present at that match to collect donations, with the entire day carrying a superhero theme to recognise the excellence of our frontline medical workers and the brave children and families that have received care at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Since 1931, the GFA has raised almost $500 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital supporting world class research, equipment and technology, care programs and more.

Western United joins some of Melbourne’s great sporting organisations – including A-Leagues rivals Melbourne City, AFL sides Carlton and North Melbourne, NRL club Melbourne Storm and NBL franchise Melbourne United – in getting behind the appeal in 2025.

Each year, the GFA telethon on Good Friday tallies the year’s donations, with last year’s total of $23.5 million raised setting a new record.

Western United General Manager of Marketing & Communications Chloe Alsop said aligning the Club’s values with such a reputable cause was a special opportunity.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to strengthen our support for the community and we are extremely grateful to the Good Friday Appeal team for having us involved this year,” she said.

“Through this partnership, we are proud to play our part in elevating the publicity of GFA’s work while also contributing to the donation figure for 2025.

“Our Superhero Rounds on 5 and 12 April will shine a light on the many families and young people from the west of Melbourne who have received support from the Royal Children’s Hospital. We look forward to sharing more details on how our community can be involved.”

Western United fans can already take part in the appeal via the Club’s official donation link with the GFA campaign for 2025 launching last week.

More exciting details will emerge of the things in store for the themed matchdays, including some special kits and merchandise options, unique matchday activations and competitions.
