Western United, in partnership with Happsa Group and Foodbank Victoria, have united to put meals on the table for thousands of people in need across Victoria.
The 2021 Foodbank Hunger Report showed that 1 in 6 adults in Victoria haven’t had enough to eat in the last year. A staggering 1.2 million children have gone without food in the last year as well.
The Goals to Fight Hunger initiative will see $200 donated to Foodbank Victoria for every goal scored by Western United throughout the entire 2021/22 Isuzu Ute A-League Men season.
The money raised will go directly to Foodbank Victoria. Every goal kicked throughout the season creates 400 meals for vulnerable Victorians.
“This is a great initiative; we are so proud to be part of something that will make a difference in our community,” Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said.
“It’s great to see the Western United family bring two partners together to achieve mutual outcomes. Now the goals we will score on the field will have even more meaning and I’m sure the Goals to Fight Hunger campaign will motivate our players even more.”
The Goals to Fight Hunger campaign will run for the entire season, which begins on Saturday, November 20 when Western United take on Melbourne Victory at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.

Despite lockdowns ending, we continue to see Victorians impacted by the pandemic, with so many people still seeking help who have never needed it before. We would like to thank both Happsa and Western United for this generous initiative,” Foodbank Victoria CEO Dave McNamara said.
