Western United and Kappa drop new season kit designs for 2021/22

Western United is proud to reveal the club’s new playing kit designs for the 2021/22 A-League season.

Kit supplier Kappa continues to be a strong partner of the Western United brand, bringing a new line-up of jerseys that enforce the work that has been done at the club over the last two seasons.

Kappa’s third collaboration with Western United is based on their 2021/22 Kombat Pro jersey model which has been specifically designed to create freedom of movement and exceptional comfort for professional footballers.

Australian and Italian Kappa design teams worked closely with the club on the graphic designs that adorn the Western United kits and this year’s striking jersey designs mix the traditional with a modern touch inspired by the urban culture of Melbourne, and more specifically, the west.

“For just our third season in the A-League, we wanted to keep our bold green and black stripes on the home jersey that have been synonymous with our brand from the beginning,” said Chloe Alsop, Western United General Manager, Marketing and Media.

“The stripes now rise out from a black gradient which provides a seamless transition into the black shorts and socks.

“This kit mixes tradition with a modern, youthful look and reflects the club and the western region as they both continue to grow and develop.

“The away kit maintains the predominantly white look from previous seasons but displays an exciting new design, inspired by the west’s urban and street art culture, something which we are proud of,” Alsop concluded.

The design features centred, single graffiti-like black and green stripes which reference the club’s traditional stripes in a modern, youthful interpretation.

Both jerseys feature a colour contrasting round neck collar with multi-panel sleeves and contrasting cuff trims. The Forever West motto is again evident on the jersey, both on the inner collar and upper back panel to reinforce the club’s commitment to the west. The 3D silicone Western United badge will again sit on the chest to leave no doubt where loyalties lie for players and fans alike.

This Italian engineered cut has been developed with feedback from Kappa’s professional football teams around the globe, ensuring that Western United is at the forefront of the latest Kappa technology and design.

The kit features Kappa’s Kombat technology and is made of breathable and lightweight polyester. The Hydroway protection technology effectively draws out sweat and keeps players dryer for longer, increasing breathability and the effective release of body heat.

The Kappa Omini logo which represents equality, humanity and authenticity – also strong philosophies for the club – will again feature on the front chest and side panels of the jersey and shorts.

Both kits feature the club’s Principal Partner, Simonds Homes, emblazoned across the middle of the jersey, maintaining the strong showing of faith and support that both organisations continue to place within each other.

Victoria University Polytechnic features on the right sleeve of both jerseys and Wyndham City, which continues to enable Western United’s participation in the community, is positioned on the back of the jerseys below the player number.
