Western United is pleased to announce that Mal Impiombato has joined the Club as Head of A-League Football Operations.
The role will be responsible for all operations surrounding the team to ensure compliance with FFA regulations as well providing further expertise to the club’s football and admin staff.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity provided to me by Western United FC,” Impiombato said.
“I look forward to joining the club that has had a successful introduction into the A-League, built solid foundations and is embarking on an ambitious journey.”
Impiombato joins with a wealth of experience, having previously performed operational roles at Wellington Phoenix FC and Football Federation Australia (FFA).
He was part of the Socceroos’ support staff at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia
He travelled again with the Socceroos in 2018, serving as the family liaison at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
He also played a key role in delivering and managing the FFA Cup for five years.
Impiombato most recently served as GM Football at Macarthur FC, before returning home to family in Melbourne this year.
Western United GM Football Ante Kovacevic added: “Mal has previously worked within all levels of football administration – State & National Federations as well as professional clubland – which will add a wealth of experience to the club as we continue to build our professional football club and strive for excellence.”
Impiombato has commenced his role at the Club ahead of the 2020/21 A-League season.
