Western United will bring its next generation to the West to inspire the community with the first VPL 1 Men’s matches in Tarneit to take place on Sunday.

Fittingly, the first fixture will be against Caroline Springs George Cross FC, whose home venue at City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field has been a home for Western United throughout the last five years.

The Senior’s match will kick-start the day at 2pm before the Under 23’s play for the three points at 4pm.

The matches will be free for all members of the community to enjoy with free entry and parking to take in the Western stars of tomorrow.

Western United General Manager of Academy and Community Anthony Frost said the milestone for the Club’s Academy program will continue to inspire future Green and Black stars.

“The most important part of us being in our home in Tarneit is being able to connect with the community and represent our region proudly, allowing footballers in the West to aspire to be part of a professional environment,” he said.

“Bringing the first VPL 1 Men’s matches to the Regional Football Facility will do just that, and we are delighted to be able to showcase our next generation of talent in front of our fans in the West.”

The Senior’s side are on a high having won two straight matches and will excite onlookers with an attacking brand of football under Diogo Ferreira – they have scored a joint league-high 12 goals in five games so far this season.

In his first season in charge of the Under 23’s team, Max Clarke has his side unbeaten through the opening five rounds and sitting in second place on the table.

Following United’s Tarneit opener in the Liberty A-League Women on Sunday, this is the next opportunity for the Green and Black family to enjoy some high-class football in the West and cheer on the next generation.
