Western United is strengthening its partnership with Wyndham City Council ever further in 2023 as the Club continues to spread throughout the West of Melbourne.

United’s Junior Academy teams will find a home at Alcock Road Reserve throughout the JBNPL 1 season in 2023, a stunning new facility in Truganina.

The venue was officially opened on Wednesday, with Wyndham City Mayor Susan McIntyre and the Victorian Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence, in attendance.

The three, full-sized grass football pitches complete an impressive precinct that features a pavilion, six tennis courts, cricket nets, playgrounds, barbecue and gathering areas and an extensive car park.

The facility will now house United’s four inaugural Junior Academy teams for training and matches throughout the 2023 JBNPL 1 seasons.

Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis said the ongoing support from Wyndham City continues to build the vision for the Club and the communities in the West.

“We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support that Wyndham City shows our Club which continues to strengthen our growth in the West,” he said.

“We are privileged to be able to bring our Junior Academy program to Alcock Road Reserve, which is fully equipped with high class facilities right in our heartland.

“We are looking forward to working with all of the local clubs in the area to help grow the game in the West, in particular Truganina Lions Soccer Club who we will share this facility with.”

Western United remains committed to building the community in the West, with support from Wyndham City and other key council areas.

The Club’s legacy will continue to build on and off the pitch, with new facilities and growing communities indicative of the Club’s vision and success.

United’s Junior Academy sides have already played their first fixtures at the venue, with two wins and two losses across the four teams against North Geelong Warriors last week.

Each team will be in action again on Sunday 14 May, with the games all day starting at 9:30am until the final match kicks off at 3pm.

All supporters and local residents are encouraged to head down to enjoy some of the West’s brightest young talents and take in everything that Alcock Road Reserve has to offer.
