Western United confirms that all court proceedings involving Western Melbourne Group and Western United Football Club have been dismissed following the successful settlement of outstanding matters with the Australian Taxation Office on Friday, 9 January.
This outcome represents an important and positive moment for the Western Melbourne Group and the broader project. It enables all elements, including the Football Club, to close a challenging chapter and move forward with renewed clarity, confidence and purpose.
With this matter now resolved, Western United Football Club will focus fully on rebuilding – strengthening its foundations, restoring long-term sustainability and working towards a strong return to the A-Leagues – while continuing to unite communities across the west of Victoria through football.
The Western Melbourne Group’s belief in the long-term vision of delivering a city underpinned by sport, health and wellbeing remains unwavering. The Group remains committed to creating an exciting and enduring destination for Wyndham, generating local employment, delivering vital sporting infrastructure and housing and providing meaningful social outcomes for one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most diverse communities.
We acknowledge and sincerely thank our partners, including Johnson Controls and Wyndham City Council, whose ongoing support and collaboration have been instrumental in helping the Club and project move forward.
Most importantly, we thank our members, supporters, players and staff for their patience, loyalty and belief in Western United during what has been a challenging period. Your support has been vital and continues to drive our determination to rebuild stronger than ever.
We look forward to sharing further updates on the Club’s pathway ahead as the rebuild progresses throughout 2026.
Forever West.
