The Western United Cup is now just under a month away as clubs from across Victoria continue to register their teams for the girls only tournament in Ballarat.
From Thursday September 29 to Saturday October 1, girl’s teams beginning from Under 9’s will compete for supremacy in their respective age divisions, with a weekend of football fun with Western United in store.
Free Agent teams and Youth Women division enter Western United Cup
Ahead of the tournament commencing, there has been a new addition with the advent of Free Agent teams.
This new introduction will allow players to register themselves individually for the tournament if they do not have a team to play in.
Individual players will be able to register under the team name Free Agent FC, and once there have been enough registrations to form a full team, a coach and a playing uniform will be provided.
This will open up opportunities for even more girls to compete in the Western United Cup and showcase their talents across the three-day event at Morshead Park.
The registration fee for individuals will be $30 and will only be paid once the team has sufficient numbers and is fully registered.
In addition to that, the Western United Cup will aim to increase development opportunities for older girls by creating a new Youth Women competition.
This will see the Under 17/18’s division in the tournament be combined with the Open Age competition, allowing more opportunities for those younger teams to compete against quality opposition.
The competition will give girls the chance to play with a mix of young, upcoming talent as well as experienced women, with a maximum of three open age players on each team.
Registrations are still open, but time is running out to secure your place at the inaugural Western United Cup.
