Western United Cup smashes record registration total in 2024

Western United Cup

Western United will see never-before-seen participation at the third instalment of the Western United Cup in 2024, becoming the biggest girls-only junior football tournament in the country.

With the tournament kicking off tomorrow in Ballarat, the total number of teams stands at a whopping 95 which dwarfs the number of teams from the 2022 and 2023 editions.

Morshead Park will become a hive of activity for talented female footballers across not only Victoria but stretching interstate and even overseas with a team set to fly in from New Zealand.

Western United Community Development Coordinator Adrian Cannatelli is blown away by the support for the competition this year.

“The numbers we have got for the Western United Cup 2024 are simply incredible and we are all extremely excited for this year’s tournament,” he said.

“We have run this tournament with great success in the last two years but it’s ready to go to another level in 2024.

“It’s going to be a blockbuster weekend of football fun and opportunities for the whole family to enjoy the time out in Ballarat.

“Any locals can come down and be part of the fun as well. We can’t wait to see thousands of people descending on Ballarat for an incredible weekend.”

With exhilarating football action guaranteed and plenty for the family to enjoy with food trucks and activities throughout the precinct, there is no other place to be to round out the school holidays.

There will also be visits from Western United Ninja A-League Women players with Adriana Taranto and Julia Sardo coming down on Friday and Chloe Logarzo, Kiara De Domizio and Natalie Picak visiting on Saturday.

The Western United Cup is made possible by the support of the State Government of Victoria and the City of Ballarat council, as well as tournament partner Australian Football Skool and all of the other event partners.

It’s set to be the biggest weekend of female football on the calendar and we can’t wait to see everyone participating, having fun and getting a taste of the Western United way.
