Western United is excited to be expanding its Development Centre program with the 2025 Term 3 intake now live.
For the first time, the boys’ program will now be open to players born between 2012 and 2018, extending the age parameters and welcoming in the youngest players in the program’s tenure.
There are eight different weekly sessions available at a range of locations throughout the West, including Ironbark Fields, Alcock Road Reserve and Leisuretime Centre in Geelong, with the option to register for multiple sessions at a time.
The program is continuing to grow and develop talented young footballers in the West with tangible outcomes including a host of players progressing into the Western United Academy, while Aidan Adams recently became the first Development Centre graduate to receive a youth national team selection.
The WUFC Girls Development Centre is available for players born between 2009 and 2016 with three sessions each week – one each at Ironbark, Alcock Road and Leisuretime.
In much the same way as the boys’ program, the Development Centre has seen the positive progression of a host of players, including Mikaela Witt who is currently representing Victoria at the Emerging Matildas Championships.
Alongside those two programs, the WUFC Futsal Development Centre is open again for a fresh intake of players.
With the Club now in its third year since entering the futsal space, this program has been a fantastic way for players to learn different skills and techniques and a varied setting.
The futsal program takes place on Saturdays at Good News Lutheran College and is open for boys born from 2011 to 2017 and girls born from 2010 to 2017.
The Speed & Strength program is also back in Term 3, building off the success of the holiday programs and previous term iterations.
Designed to enhance explosiveness and athleticism, the weekly session will be held on Mondays at Ironbark Fields, welcoming boys and girls born from 2008 to 2014.
